Outreach

Trustees of Trinity Church and the church community have embraced the United Nation’s Millennium Development Goals (http://www.un.org/millenniumgoals/) wholeheartedly, and we are tasked with keeping those goals in mind for our outreach efforts.  Trinity’s outreach efforts touch many corners of the world. Our three recipients, chosen at years end, change annually and include state, national and international humanitarian organizations.  Listed below are the chosen organizations.

2024 Outreach

As in past years, our hearts are drawn to those living on the margins, through crisis situations and carrying heavy burdens. The mission work of those from the Trinity fold in this season of need, pulled mightily on our heart strings. Leaning in and being attentive to the pull, our recommendations became immediately clear.

The outreach committee extends our heartfelt thanks to the Trustees for the significant increase in funding for outreach this season, allowing us to live more fully into our call to mission outside our church walls. With our donations, go our fervent prayers for the light of God’s love to be deeply felt by those receiving them.

York Community Service Association Food Pantry.

The work of YCSA in town is known to most of us in the Trinity family. In years past, we have collected food items for donation to the YCSA Food Pantry and filled backpacks with school supplies for local school children whose families live with low wealth. This year, YCSA’s Food Pantry’s commitment to providing fresh produce has added an unexpected financial hit as the usage of the pantry grows. While the food pantry receives weekly donations from Hannaford supermarket, as do all the pantries across the State of Maine, the produce is frequently on the verge of a sooner rather than later shelf. YCSA is committed to providing fresh fruits and vegetables to folks in York as its widely known what an tremendous impact access to fresh produce can have on health, including dental health. That commitment has led the YCSA Food Pantry to purchase well over $400 worth of fresh produce each week, to be certain, shoppers are able to choose fresh produce to put in their carts when shopping at the pantry. It’s heartbreaking to think of produce as luxury items but for many here in York, it simply is. Our support will help provide a continued increase in the quality of life for our neighbors.

York County Family Fund
https://www.yorkcountyfamilyfund.org/

Founded by Dede and Brian Cadieux in 2006, their efforts help those in need stop the domino affect of an emergency financial crisis by helping stabilize the situation with a financial contribution. It’s been a game changer for folks. 100% of donations go directly out to those living in the southern most region of Maine. Helping to keep folks housed and fed, cars working so they can continue to work and electricity on, are a just few of the many things they have assisted families and individuals with. Assistance is on a one time basis allowing their reach to be greater. Referrals come from social service agencies, churches, schools and other professional agencies. The York County Family Fund is literally helping to save and stabilizing lives. As you might imagine in this season of need, the fund is stretched with the overwhelming number of requests and would benefit greatly from our donation. It is a quiet ministry among us with such a tremendous impact.

The Epiphany School was co-founded by Rev. John Finley where he is the Head of School. Copied below is their mission statement, which for the outreach committee, says it all. John’s work with children of economically disadvantaged families at the Epiphany School has changed the world. Truly. Be sure to have a look at John’s bio on the website. John is a son of Trinity Church, our summer pastor and his life changing God filled work is deserving of Trinity’s outreach efforts.
